Privacy Commissioner Opens Investigation Into Tim Hortons App after privacy concerns

Tim HortonsThe Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has announced the launch of an investigation against Tim Hortons [TCO] today alleging the restaurant is violating consumer privacy through their mobile app.  The brand might be out of compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), as it appears to be the app might be tracking more than the allowed amount of consumer data.

Unfortunately this is just another misstep for the brand owned by Restaurant Brands International (RBI), as it continues to be a financial anchor. RBI also owns Burger King [TCO] and Popeye’s [TCO] which continue to innovate and deliver better than expected financial results.
