The up and down for ride-sharing service Uber continues as news broke yesterday the newly IPO’d company will be cutting one third of its workforce across the globe. The company has approximately 1,200 employees within its marketing department and will be laying off one third of the team across the globe in an effort of cost cutting after reporting a $1 billion loss in the first quarter. The layoffs were first reported by The New York Times.
Uber’s latest public global headcount was 24,494 global employees as of March 31, 2019, about 400 people in Uber’s marketing department were laid off across its 75 offices globally, according to the company.
