Phil King

A surprising turn took place at CTV this week as Phil King left the organization quite abruptly with no concrete explanation. Phil had been the President of CTV Programming and Sports at BCE, Inc., since July 8, 2013.  He had been the President of CTV, Sports and Entertainment Programming at Bell Media Inc. since January 1, 2014. He is responsible for leading Bell Media’s programming strategy for conventional television, CTV and CTV Two, the company’s sports properties, TSN and RDS, as well as Canada’s top English language specialty channels.
King played an integral role in bringing a number of hit shows to the CTV network such as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and helped CTV develop shows like The Amazing Race Canada and Saving Hope.  No official word as to why Phil has left the company, however this was part of an overall management shake up with CTV as announced by a memo sent by Bell Media President Mary Ann Turcke late Monday afternoon.

Rumours have been flying that Phil will be replaced by Randy Lennox, the current President and CEO of Universal Music Canada, a division Universal Music Group.
