U.S. Department of Defense Green Light To Use Blackberry Devices, Stock Shoots Up

BlackberryAs Blackberry turned their attention to the enterprise, the company announced it has secured a major win with the U.S. Department of Defense.  The government agency gave Blackberry the green light, saying it will 80,000 Blackberry will be deployed to its workforce by the end of the month.  This number represents about 98% of the their total devices, but they also have another 1,800 other devices like Apple’s iPad, iPhone and tablets and phones on the Android operating system.

The government agency says about 80,000 BlackBerrys will be deployed on its new mobile device management system by the end of this month 1,800 other devices like Apple’s iPad, iPhone and tablets and phones on the Android operating system.  News of the win also helped Blackberry’s stock as it closed up 82 cents, or 8.22 per cent, at $10.80 after having risen at high as $11.70 earlier in the session.
