Last week we had wondered whether SoftBank would make a play and try to take over a Canadian wireless carrier, but looks like Egypt’s Orascom has beat them to the punch.  It has been announced the Orascom is looking to take over control of Canadian wireless carrier WIND Mobile and their roughly 500,000 active customers throughout Canada.  Orascom has always been a major backer of WIND Mobile, but now wants to take full control, well that is if the Canadian government will allow it.

Guess we can squash those WIND-Mobilicity take over rumours, for now.
