According to an article in The Toronto Star, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)  will be rolling out a new mobile payment system later this summer that will allow riders to use their smart phones to make contactless credit card payments.  This new initiative comes from Metrolinx, a provincial agency who has already started rolling out a similar system in Ottawa, but struggling with challenges to complete the project.  The College Station will be the first to receive the new machines and then TTC expects to move to Dundas Station and then up to Yonge-Bloor.

There is a large portion of Canadians who are ready and waiting for mobile payment to go “prime time,”  according to PayPal, 70% of Canadians are ready to turn to their mobile devices to make payments.
