IBM Acquires Analytics Provider Varicent Software

IBM’s having a pretty busy week, earlier they were party of a $175 million R&D investment with a number of Ontario universities.  This morning they’ve acquired Toronto-based Varicent Sofware for an undisclosed sum.  Varicent which was founded in 2003 provides software that automates and analyzes the collection and reporting of sales data across finance, sales, human resources and other departments.

IBM plans to integrate Varicent with its R&D and prior acquisitions including Algorithmics, Clarity Systems, OpenPages, Cognos and SPSS.
