Looks like Blackberry and Playbook maker Research In Motion made another acquisition last week as the purchased Ireland-based NewBay for a reported $100 million.  NewBay develops software used by carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon to provide their customers with solutions such as online photo albums, automatic updating of social network status, and online address books.  With most carriers already having a solution that provides these features for their customer based this does not seem like a strategic acquisitions for RIM, but maybe there is a base of carriers that haven’t been locked in yet, Bell, Rogers and TELUS already provide these type of services for Canadian customers.
