Canadian-based Kik launched their group messaging app for smart phone devices,and they instantly had a major impact on communications with over a million downloads. For quite a while they were on a roll, gaining the attention of a number of key venture capitalists as they looked to expand their offering. A few weeks later they were told by Research In Motion that their app was no longer going to be listed in the Blackberry App World and the company would not support any So what’s next for Ted Livingston, the Former RIM employee now turned entrepreneur and his startup? With the continuous trouble that RIM has been having, the last thing they should do is piss off their developers. At the end of the day, RIM needs as many people creating, downloading and using apps on their Blackberry and Playbook devices as possible.
