Research In Motion Acquires JayCut

RIM just announced that they have acquired Swedish-based JayCut who makes a video editing and cloud-based service for the Blackberry platform.  RIM has not disclosed the financial details of the deal.

– David Yach, Chief Technology Officer at RIM, comments by saying:

The BlackBerry PlayBook offers users premium multimedia features, including dual HD cameras for video capture and video conferencing, HDMI output and high resolution video playback. By working with JayCut to add video editing capabilities to the BlackBerry platform we can further enrich our customers’ multimedia experience with BlackBerry.

Although they are down, looks like RIM is still fighting.
