Social Gaming Makes A Big Push Into Canada As Zynga Acquires Five Mobile

They are preparing for an IPO, they have changed the world of online gaming and created a category called social gaming, and making in-roads into the Canadian market.  Last last week Zynga, the company behind such games as Farmville and Mafia Wars acquired Toronto-based Five Mobile for certain assets and intellectual property, and will re-brand the company to Zynga Toronto.  Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.  Five Mobile creates smartphone and portable media apps for multiple platforms, and they have worked with companies like Disney, Sony Pictures, AT&T, and RIM, among others. Five Mobile’s Founders include Ameet Shah, Jeff Zakrzewski, Oliver Tabay, and Troy Hubman. Shah will head up the Zynga Toronto studio, reporting to Zynga’s mobile head David Ko.
