As they continue to look for new ways to connect Canadian small businesses with consumers, Canpages announced the release of a new voice-powered local search app for the iPhone, and includes social sharing on Twitter and Facebook.

“Canpages’ voice-powered local search app is all about helping people find what they need, when they need it, quickly and easily,” said Colin Osing, Canpages’ Director of Online Media. “It’s as simple as launching the app on your smart phone and talking to it. Users can text or email the search results to a friend as well as Tweet it or post them to Facebook, all in one click.”

The new app allows users to speak their search request for a specific business category or type, such as “Tim Hortons”, “Italian restaurants”, or “gas stations” and view the direction and distance to the local business results in real-time on iPhone’s screen. As well the app leverages augmented reality technology, which uses the iPhone’s compass, GPS and video camera simultaneously—and the only Canadian local search app that combines both voice-recognition and augmented reality all in one.
