WINNIPEG, July 18 /CNW/ – MTS High Speed Internet customers can take their Internet access to any of more than 300 Wi-Fi “hotspots” across Canada, including 32 in Winnipeg, thanks to a team effort between MTS Allstream and FatPort, Canada’s largest public Wi-Fi provider. The service will work for anyone who has a Wi-Fi enabled device, such as a lap-top computer or PDA, and will be free to all MTS High Speed Internet customers until September 30th. “Customers today want to take advantage of High Speed Internet access outside their homes,” said Kelvin Shepherd, President Consumer Markets, MTS Allstream Inc. “Whether you are taking a break for coffee or lunch, or waiting to meet friends or just taking a few minutes to catch up on business before an appointment, MTS Wi-Fi lets you surf at high speed outside of the home at more than 300 locations across Canada, including 32 in Winnipeg.” The Wi-Fi hotspots are located at the MTS Centre and a variety of different restaurants, hotels and cafes across Canada serviced by FatPort (see attached list for the locations in Winnipeg). Whenever a customer enters an MTS or FatPort Wi-Fi location, and attempts to go to any website, a landing page will automatically appear on their Wi-Fi enabled device. The page will provide logon information the customer needs to surf the Web at high speed. “We are very pleased to team up with FatPort to offer this service to our customers. They have a great chain of hotspots, and we are going to be adding more of our own before the end of the year to provide customers with even more access,” said Shepherd. “This is another great feature that sets MTS High Speed Internet apart from the competition.” The service is free to MTS High Speed Internet customers until September 30th, after which a range of plans will be available so customers can purchase Wi-Fi access that meets their needs, including a $20 per month unlimited Wi-Fi access plan.

In addition to enjoying the freedom of Wi-Fi and the many other features MTS High Speed Internet service has to offer, customers can also get in on great MTS Bundle savings. MTS High Speed Internet, MTS TV and MTS Mobility can be bundled in any combination for savings of $10 or $15 a month. Plus, all MTS Bundle customers can access a special flat-rate $15 a month unlimited long distance plan to anywhere in Canada and the U.S. and additional savings if they have AAA Alarms monitoring service.
