Yahoo Canada gets ready to steal the thunder from Sympatico/MSN

All year there has been a war for consumers attention between the Internet’s Big 3, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! The battle has extended boxing_ring.jpegacross the globe to each of their respective local offices and we’ve seen employees jump ship and move to a competitor over and over but this latest move by Yahoo! Canada has to be the most bold that we’ve seen in a long time. General Manager, Kerry Munro and the Yahoo! Canada team have moved in the building, literally as they move their Toronto office into the same building that rival Sympatico/MSN calls home.

Picture it now, you just won a deal taking away business from your competitor and heading home for the day, as you open the elevator you see 5 of them and just you. Let the talent wars begin, 2008 will be an interesting time to work in the HR department of either company.

Now to be fair to Yahoo! Canada they didn’t actually plan this, the new lease was signed after they had heard that Sympatio/MSN was to be moving out as they reached capacity but their deal fell through. Now we return to our regularly scheduled program “As the Internet Turns.”
