Do I only get to vote once? I want to vote for Brendan and Doctor Jones!
Boyd – Unfortunately Poll Daddy’s tool only allows for 1 vote.
Both David and Marcel are integral players in the social media space and if I could vote for both I would.
Thanks to whoever made me part of that list. That poll is a great initiative.
wow! What a list! It reads like a Canadian Social Media Who’s who..
…adding many to my google reader now..
Thanks! I’m honoured to be nominated!
For his work with Homeless Nation and RiP: A remix manifesto and pushing our ideas about how we still need a social conscience in our digital lives.
What, couldn’t find a picture of me?
http://www.gypsybandito.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/ct_moore_aviators.jpg
Got it now!!!! Just added your pic to the list.
Dave
go brett!!!
Just being on the list is a huge honour. Thanks!
I am humbled to be on the list, I’d like to nominate Sean Howard, http://craphammer.ca. He’s teh awesome.
Good luck to everyone! But especially to who I voted for…
Cool list. Without question, I voted for Brett Gaylor – pretty f*igging revolutionary work. That’s what new media is all about.
Ditto. Brett Gaylor is the Lawrence of Arabia of new media.
Why is the contest not the most influential person in social media? Why the need to separate the girls from the boys?
Mark – Unfortunately we’ve had the call for nominations open for the last 2 weeks and had to close it to start the voting. The list has already sent to Post Rank (to name a few steps). I didn’t think this was going to get this much buzz so we’ll definitely do this again in ’09 and probably take it another level…
kk ftw
Kris Krug is everywhere!!
KK is in the know, in the loop, on the top, in the mix, and all over social media.
Definitely like to see equal emphasis on promoting the list of women. Sad to see hype about the men and women as an after-thought.
Seeing everyone, it’s also easy to see how white the sector is which reflects how disproportionate we are with Canadian demographics. We need to do more to reflect the breadth of Canadian experience. If/when you take it up a notch, would be good to actually do outreach with *new* strategies so the list better reflects what’s on the ground in diverse and emerging social media areas.
sylvain the best
Laurent M. un homme au multiple facette
Voter pour Laurent Lasalle cool
Brett Gaylor has imense talent with a message and we are lucky
to experience his genuine work.
No.1
Kris Krug is the Robert Scales of social media
you are the best!(sylvain grand’maison)
Laurent has a way of making this work; a way of taking something so vast, something – at times – so unmanageable, and bringing it to a level that works for everyone. Sometimes we would should listen to the silent leaders. He is bright, eloquent, innovative and more than deserving of this nomination.
KK ftw!
Let’s Go Bob ! You’re the best !
All KK. All the time.
I’m not Bob Goyetche, but I approve this message.
One vote isn’t enough, although I’ve already voted for Boyd Neil based on his liveTweet of the Malcolm Gladwell talk alone – that was what made me rush out to buy the book, not the video (couldn’t get through the intro), or Gladwell’s ponderous interview on The Hour.
But I’d like to vote for Bob LeDrew for having the best Linked In profile I’ve ever seen.
And for Kris Krug for being multi-talented, gracious, and one of the prime movers and shakers behind Northern Voice.
And for… and for… and for….
You know they used to say Canadians talked on the phone more than any other nationality? Do you think that’s why we’re so good at the social media thang?
CT = win
J’espère bien que tu sera le plus populaire…Bonne chance.
kk all the way!
kk all the way
Some tough choices out there. Great list! Good luck to all!
You know what, I don’t know a person that works as hard as Mitch Joel does. He gets my vote today.
Choix difficile…
Brett Gaylor for all the great work he’s doing on homelessnation.org, opensourcecinema.org, his movie Rip, and because he’s so darn cute!
for Sebastien Provencher – good marketing and biz.dev. before-after the launch!
Robbie Jones is un-tapped genious
Would love to download the widget for my site, but it doesn’t actually work….
I don’t see Danny Brown on the list, and I saw that he was nominated. Can you please let me know when his name is added to the list?
go chris!
I vote for Claude Malaison because 1) he’s a great blogger 2) he’s an amazing mumbaï twitter 3) he’s cool and works for the community more than for himself 3) but first because he brings to Webcom Montreal great speakers from around the world twice a year in order to evangelize ordinary corporations to social medias and business 2.0. But you know, that’s just a game and I love you all
Danny’s name has been added.
Ruth – For some reason the widget seems to work on some sites but not all, I’ll keep playing with it and if not contact Poll Daddy.
Go Jon!
Go Jon! Good luck.
@Dave Forde – Thanks.
Go Jon!
Good job on this Dave….everybody wins – credibility building for social media, attention for the A and B listers and some traffic for you…smart idea…I will vote with secret ballot
I can’t choose. Too many awesome men. Like Bob said, this list reads like a who’s who in canada’s social media scene.
Oh, wait, now there’s a great idea…
This is too hard. Is anyone having as difficult a time as I am in voting just for 1?
Come on Leesa, eventually all women have to ‘choose just 1 man’…
J’aime beaucoup le podcast de québecbalado, car ont en apprend plus sur les nouveaux média web et les nouveaux podcast au québec
As a social media observer and nationally published journalist, Ben Watson (Bitpakkit) has consistently provided me with the kind of timely insight and context I need to deliver coherent, forward-throwing stories to my readers.
Great list…
Ben Watson. Hands down
Decisions, decisions…..I have to vote…
Jon Hamilton all the way!!! How many times can we vote????
Decisions, decisions…….who to vote for…
Jon Hamilton all the way!! Can I vote more then once??
Good luck Jon.
JON ALL THE WAY!
Thanks for doing this David as it definitely pushes our whole industry forward a notch. I echo other readers that voting for one person on this list is very difficult. Honored tho!
Go Jon ~ You’ve got my vote!
I vote to take me off the list – I look up to way too many of these guys to be among them here.
Jon has changed the way conservative organizations look at social media and its ability to reach consumers.
Go Jon!
Jon’s got my vote
@Dave Forde – Wow, I just found out I was on this list… feeling suitably humbled, thank you.
My URL (if needed) is http://dannybrown.me

Thanks again – and here’s to everyone continuing their great work in social media awareness
Danny.
Ha, I hear you Dave, I’m in the same boat
Some great names up there, and everyone should be applauded for the work they’re doing (and you would be on any social media list anyway, my friend)
All the best in the competition Jon!
You deserve the title
Alessandra
Thanks for including me.
I think your picture of “Jon Hamilton” above may have been meant to be me. There are photos of me here and there on the Web, but if you need one email me to let me know.
Oh, no .. that “Jon Hamilton” was meant to be him (apologies, Jon).
Dave if you want / need a photo of me let me know.
Jon
Good luck Boyd!
I some day wish to win this.
Good luck to everyone!
Dave – tried it in both Chrome and IE7 today and it didn’t work in either but it’s no biggies. Enjoy the holidays and don’t worry about widgets. Actually that may be my motto for 2009: Never worry about a widget.
And I’d like at least three more votes please.
Awesome list, I second everyone – have been lucky to meet many of the great men in this list, and I’m good friends with them. I am not an influencer in social media, that’s for sure! I just use Twitter, blogs, Flickr and every other Web 2.0 app as my playground.
FYI, this link doesn’t work:
