Has to be Amber Mac, for pushing it before it was even trendy to do so
Amber rocks!
If it isn’t Amber I’m going to jump off a bridge, this question is a no brainer
Leesa Barnes has my vote!
In the short time I have known Leesa, she has been an inspiration to me. I’m honoured and thrilled to have voted for Leesa!
Cheers!
Thank you Amber for great work over the years from Call For Help to commandN. I am sure you have helped and inspired many people to embrace and enjoy technology.

She is THE most influential social media woman in Canada and abroad. I thought you already knew that:-)
Leesa Barnes is the top social media woman in Canada and she’s very knowledge about she does.
Leesa Barnes in my eyes is one of the most influential people in Social Media. I have learned so much from Leesa over the last few months that have saved me time, money and energy. Leesa is so free to share information with others so that they to can learn all there is in the world of Social Media. Not only does Leesa share information, she is willing to help others that have questions. Leesa is the one who got me started podcasting. She made it seem so simple and easy to start and implement. I must say that it was simple. I also like that Leesa gets straight to the point. These days, people do not have a lot of time to waste!
Thank You Leesa…..
Keep Rising!

Seems a little heavily weighted for the Ontario women . . .
It has to be Leesa Barnes 4 sure!!!
Leesa Barnes is it!
Amber Mac is a shoo in
Go Amber
It would have to be Amber. But shouldn’t Nora Young (CB Spark) be on this list? She’s bringing together traditional and social media and she reaches a huge audience.
Of course I meant CBC Spark, not CB Spark.
Has to be Amber MAc for sure. She is so talented and good at what she does. True inspiration
@Fulmar – good point, but if you look at the original post the women were selected from the community, I guess West & East of Ontario need to speak up more…
Ok. Voted
Wow, that’s quite a list with which to choose. my ignorance came shining through because I didn’t know many of them. I’ll have to make amends.
No one on this list can even compete with the accomplishments of Jen Evans. What she has done, on her own, is absolutely inspirational.
Thanks for nominating me, Mom!
Scott – Unfortunately Nora wasn’t one of the women that the community had nominated originally (http://profectio.com/who-are-canadas-most-influential-women-in-social-media). Next time we do the something like this hopefully she’ll get added to the list.
April Dunford brings great insight with a smack of humour
I was really only trying to vote for Monica Hamburg but I’m not sure I’ve succeeded in doing that.
There are some glaring omissions on this list – Alexandra Samuels of Social Signal, Raincoaster/Lorraine Murphy, and Meg Fowler herself being a few just from Metro Vancouver.
http://www.socialsignal.com/alexandra-samuel
http://www.megfowler.com/about/
http://raincoaster.com/
Although I’d still vote for Monica.
I voted for Sacha Chua. ‘Cause she’s the only one with a blog that I subscribe to…
April Dunford….is there any other choice. Her talents exceeds all other nominees.
April Dunford – brillant!
It’s fun to be on this list along with some people I truly admire. Jen has been my unofficial mentor, I totally admire Amber and all that she does, Sacha brings her own uniqueness that is quite refreshing, while Connie, Eden, Kate and Maggie each continue to inspire me in different ways on how they engage people using social media.
When I look at all the women who have been nominated, what strikes me is that we each influence a different market. While individually, we are admired, respected (and maybe loathed) by the various niche markets we serve, together, the 31 of us bring together so many different interests united under the umbrella of social media.
And at the end of the day, that’s what makes this list so incredible.
Thanks so much for the kind words! What an amazing list, go ladies (although I’d love to see an overall most influential Canadian in social media, guys included!).
-Amber
I watch and listen Amber Mac to stay up to date in the tech world thanks to CommandN, Butterscotch, Net@Night…
Keep up the great work Amber.
This is a no brainer!
Amber Mac!
Amber Mac hands down. Great interviewer, great educator, great on-air..er…web personality.
Amber Mac …… now how about the guys and both women & men?
Got to be Amber Mac. Great knowledge, excellent presentation skills, clear and allways happy and got a smile.
Amber Mac …… how about a poll for men and both women and men combined. Thanks
APRIL DUNFORD is Fantastic!!!
Should we do a list for the men in Canada as well?
Amber Mac ….. how about a poll for men and one for women & men combined. Would be interesting, thanks.
So does someone have a link to the poll or what?
@Brian – Nevermind it just didnt load on this page when i first arrived.
Amber Rules!! long live Command N!
I am honoured to be included in this list. Thank you!
And for the record, many of the women on this list may live in Ontario now but are not originally from here, including myself (Yay, Winnipeg!). It’s just that Toronto is a natural hub.
Thanks again
There are a lot of fantastic choices in the list, but the obvious choice is Amber MacArthur. She has the widest reach in social media, thanks in large part to her talents and association with Leo Laporte.
If I had a second vote, it would go to Angie Byron for her work with Drupal and the Lullabot crew.
Just voted for Shannae Ingeton. This is a dynamic woman that greatly influences those around her. She’s a trendsetter that definitely gives back to the community. Her selfless dedication to women needs is admirable and deserves recognition.
Amber, of course!
Ali De Bold from ChickAdvisor.com for sure!!
Ali de Bold all the way!!!
Shannae has my vote all the way!
Shannae Ingleton for many reasons. She’s inspired a whole city to do better and think smarter. Also, she’s really, really good at what she does. As a man, I think I finally know ‘What Women Want’s’ because of Shannae’s social Media.
JRJ~
Thanks for all of the love and for the nomination! It is a pleasure to be in the company of such wonderful women…

“What women want”….Ms. Shannae…just started following her blogs and loving it……different from the rest….

Camille a.k.a Our Natural Path
Shannae Ingleton. I’ve watched her dreams become reality. She is one of the most driven people I know since we were kids and she’s dared to dream big. I know this is a great honor for her and that this is just her beginning. Congrats!!!
If you want to know anything about everything, Miss604 is the one to go to. From history, to entertainment, to sports, music and so on and so on. The others may be good, but she is the very best! An honest heart and open mind.
My vote won’t remain anonymous as this is something to broadcast: it goes to Shannae Ingleton. She has done quite an amazing job at bringing women together through creative events such as Literary Journey & What Women Want, and then bringing women together through her blog. It’s only the beginning for her. Although i’m positive the other contenders who are up for this must be equally driven & successful women
, the title of “Most influential” should go to Ms. Ingleton.
Cheers!
Congratulations Shannae Ingelton… Keep up the great work.
Thanks for adding the links to our sites… but what do I have to do to get my last name spelled correctly dude?!?!
April Dunford! Go girl!
Wow–I am very honoured to be on this list. And with so many people who I look up to as well! I wish everyone the best–this is going to be a tough call.
April is a rock star.
Keep up the good work Shannae!
If influence means mentoring (which I believe it does)then the obvious vote should go to Connie Crosby. Connie has influenced, encouraged, and mentored many, men and women, to take up the social media mantel in their lives. Thanks for everything Connie.
Shannae Ingleton has my vote all the way!
I love the site, the blogs and I love WWW!! Keep up the great work sha nay nay
Tanx for the noimination. I really am happy to be on your list of such p^rominent women. I would also certainly appreciate if you spell my name Michelle Blanc rather than Michel Leblanc. But I can certainly understand the mix-up…
I agree that influence extends well beyond the quality of posts, but includes promotion and education of others. In that Connie Crosby has no equal.
Sorry Michelle – change made.
Monique Chartrand, director of Communautique
has to be Miss604
Shannae Ingleton all the way baby, her website is as addictive as all the goodies and gossip one can find on there. It’s WWW!!!
Shannae Ingleton!!! WWW is addictive, fun and fabulous!
Rae Hoffman. The end.
SUGARRAE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She’s a ROCKSTAR and so will win:)
Where do we vote???? If it’s here then I vote for SUGARRAE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!
Kate Trgovac has done more to broaden the social media community than anyone else I know. Doing great work and getting others to join the party (properly) means she’s got my vote.
Michelle Blanc has the greatest influence, I think, in the offline world (at least in Quebec but more and more in the ROC) due to her long-term collaboration with mainstream and professional medias — and an outstanding one online. I highly support her principles of trust and transparency and her views on open source technologies as a fundamental resource of our digital economy. Also, she dares to share her transitional feelings (this is not easy) as deeply as her professional thoughts. Finally she is also followed by many citizens in the Francophone world where she promotes Canadian values and excellence.
tough call – congrats to all the nominees!
Kate lives and breathes social media!
Adele’s made sure to invest into the online community and not only does she know how to get that work done, she knows how to put a smile on your face!
Good luck, Kate!
