Fido continues to change the Canadian wireless market

Fido10 years ago a lonely start up from Montreal launched giving the other Canadian wireless players a run for their money. Today the company that launched Canada’s first digital PCS service in the Greater Montreal area still continues to innovate and revolutionize the market place. Sylvain Roy, Senior Vice-President and Fido General Manager says “At the time Fido launched, only 12% of Canadians had access to wireless service. Fido was instrumental in making it easy for more Canadians to own a wireless handset, and now 54% of the Canadian population – 17.8 million people – own one of these devices. Fido truly democratized wireless for Canadians.”

Award-winning TV commercials and some really creative pricing have helped Fido grab consumers attention and spending over the years to become one of Canada’s recognizable brands.

Fido was purchased by Rogers but continues to operate as a seperate brand.
