Michel Gagnon has just beeen appointed to the newly created position of Vice-President, Revenue and Brand Management at La Presse. In the role, he takes over responsibility for the company’s advertising revenues and will head its sales team, while overseeing brand strategy and marketing. He assumes his new duties immediately.
Michel will be supported by the new sales management team announced this past January, which incorporates the digital advertising sales expertise of the former Olive Media agency. That team comprises Nathalie Boucher, Senior Director, National Sales; France-Éliane Nolet, Senior Director, Strategic Development and Media Creativity; and Véronique Géraud, Senior Director, Retail Advertising Sales. In Toronto, he will be supported by Simon Jennings, President, La Presse Group Sales Toronto. Michel will also continue to head the Marketing, Research and Circulation team.
Michel has been with the company since 2011 and has played a key role in the transformation of its business model. Among other achievements, he led the marketing strategy behind the launch of La Presse+, and subsequently drove the digital tablet edition’s rapid and sustained growth in daily openings. His wide-ranging experience in media has included senior positions in sales and marketing, notably at RDS, the French-language specialty sports channel.
La Presse also announced that Luc Tremblay, who held the position of Vice-President, Sales, La Presse, for four years, is leaving the company.
Fun Fact: One of Michel’s first jobs was as a salesperson in a men’s fashion store at the age of 15.
