Guy LaurenceAs we said back in December, Guy Laurence his work cut out for himself as he takes over to become the third CEO of Rogers, he will be faced with a Board of Directors, that includes a very strong presence from the Rogers family,  and competition from competitors such as Bell and TELUS.  For his first 30 days in the top seat Guy walked the floors getting a sense for what kind of a company and culture was in front of him from Canada’s largest communications company.

Bell, TELUS and Rogers have battled each other over advertising campaigns, price wars and legal battles for years, but TELUS got the upper hand last year as it got the green light to acquire Public  Mobile back in November which gave it an  222,000 prepaid Public Mobile customers.  In their latest quarterly report, TELUS stated they have 7.81 million wireless subscribers, including 6.75 million customers on long-term contracts.  BCE or Bell as it is commonly known a had 7.78 million subscribers in the period, including 6.68 million long-term customers.  For the first time since it was launched in 1990, TELUS now officially has more wireless subscribers than BCE’s Bell.
