Apple Beefs Up Map Tech With Acquisition Of Toronto's Locationary

As they look to a compete with Google’s mapping services, Apple recently purchased Toronto-based Locationary for an undisclosed sum.  Locationary’s crowd-sourced location data platform will be a be a much needed addition to Apple’s iOS especially after CEO wrote an apology explaining the disaster the company had when iOS 6 was first released.

Locationary received venture backing from Extreme Venture Partners and Plazacorp Ventures.
