Microsoft Advertising has announced that Carlos de Torres will be taking on the role of Vice President of Advertising & Online (A&O) in Canada.
Carlos joins the Canadian A&O team from Microsoft Spain, where he was the country manager for Microsoft Advertising. In this role he helped to establish Microsoft Advertising’s presence in the country’s digital media landscape. Carlos has been with Microsoft since 2010 when he joined as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) Lead and was fundamental in contributing to the division’s success.
Prior to Microsoft, Carlos spent eight years at Telefónica Group, where he served as a director of several units of marketing, sales and distribution of mobile, fixed telephony and Internet. His experience also includes five years in the online advertising sector for TPI (Yellow Pages industry leader) and AOL (America On Line Time Warner).
In his new role, Carlos will work closely with the Canadian Leadership Team and the A&O team to leverage the devices, content and power of the Microsoft ecosystem to further preference for Windows. He will focus on engaging consumers and enhancing their experience across the web, games, tablets, mobile devices and PCs – by leveraging the re-imagined ad experiences that put consumers at the centre across Bing, Skype, the new MSN, Xbox, Windows 8 and Outlook.com.
Update: Carlos will be taking over for Owen Sagnes who we reported has been promoted to a postion in the UK.
