Toronto’s TransGaming just announced that it has signed an agreement with Google to have itsTransGaming’s SwiftShader 3D rendering technology licensed to the search giant.
“Google has recognized TransGaming’s expertise in the graphics domain,” said Vikas Gupta, CEO & President, TransGaming Inc. “The two companies have worked closely on the ANGLE project and this work, coupled with the SwiftShader license, underscore Google’s commitment to bringing high-end graphics content to the browser.”
The technology allows applications to generate 3D graphics on a CPU alone without the use of a graphics processing unit. The agreement is an expansion of a previous license. Back in February 2013, TransGaming had secured a patent for their ShiftShader technology, so it looks like they saw the potential early on.
