We have now confirmed that Gary Anderson, Senior Vice President of Bell Media Digital will be leaving the organization at the end of 2012. Gary headed up Bell’s online property Sympatico.ca which it was first launched in the fall of 1995, and over that time has grown the portal to well reach well over 10 million uniques.
A few years later a partnership was formed between Bell and Microsoft that gave birth to Sympatico/ MSN (www.sympatico/msn.ca), the portal (that’s what we called them back in the day) continued to be a dominant player in the online publishing and advertising business across Canada. Back in 2009 Bell and Microsoft parted ways and each brand created their own sites – www.microsoft.ca & www.sympatico.ca.
In April 2011, Bell completed its acquisition of CTV, Gary was named the Senior Vice President of Bell Media Digital which included the Sympatico brand and assets owned by Bell.
Moving forward as of January 2013, Bell’s Catherine MacLeod, Vice-President, Specialty Channels will be taking over for Gary. In her current role as Vice-President, Specialty Channels, Catherine is responsible for the brand and programming strategies across all of Bell Media’s non-sports specialty assets. Prior to that promotion, Catherine was Vice-President, Business and Legal Affairs, and has been with Bell Media since 2000.
