Vancouver's Flickr Co-Founder Shuts Down Latest Startup

Vancouver has had a few startup success stories over the years, one that will also be remember is the $35 million acquisition of photo sharing site Flickr in 2005 by to Yahoo. Since then Co-Founders / husband & wife Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake have gone on to launch new businesses individually. Stewart has announced he is shutting down his latest venture, Glitch which employed around 30 developers and other support staff with most of them based in Vancouver.
Stewart has left Flickr back in 2008 to form the new gaming development company Tiny Speck who’s maid product Glitch is a multiplayer online game that featured highly stylized graphics. In 2011, Tiny Speck had raised $10,7 million in its second financing round. Stewart however said that Glitch will be shutting down, not Tiny Speck.
