Marc Benioff and crew have had their eyes on Canada a LOT lately as the company has now acquired their third Canadian company this year. They announced the acquisition of GoInstant, a startup which was launched in 2010 created a tool that allows users to “co-browse” the Internet together on multiple devices. The Nova Scotia-based startup previously closed $1.7 million from a number of investors including LinkedIn’s Chairman Reid Hoffman,Facebook investor Yuri Milner, and Former Facebook executive Chamath Palihapitiya, as well as from firms Baseline Ventures, Freestyle Capital and Social Leverage LLC. On its website, GoInstant lists only 12 employees.
Last month, the Salesforce bought Buddy Media for as much as $745 million in cash and stock to broaden its social-media footprint. Founded in 2007, Buddy Media sold tools that allowed its customers to publish online content and social-media advertising, as well as measure the effectiveness of such programs.
Over the last few months Salesforce has acquired Canadian Rypple and Radian6.
