Sexting On The Rise, But You Might Be Surprised Who's Doing It Now

Got a smartphone? Well chances are that at some point you are going to start sexting – admit it, you have done it, or been the recipient of a sexting text. Research shows that its big with teens, and now according to some new data, 1 in 5 Americans say they sext – or share explicit text messages with others on their smartphones.
It’s not just the teens anymore: 1 in 5 Moms and Dads say they use their smartphone to sext; 1 in 10 Baby Boomers (ages 55+) admit to sending or receiving racy photos on their smartphone.

  • 11% of Americans admitted that they record explicit videos on their phones.
  • Only 3% of Americans say their biggest concern about losing their phone is because inappropriate pictures or text messages could be exposed. This number is shockingly low when you consider that 69% of smartphone owners have lost their phone and so many people are sexting.

The survey was conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Lookout, a mobile security company. Nearly 2,100 people answered the survey online.
