RIM Acquires Radio-Frequency Company Paratek

As consumers, we all want our phones to do more while the battery lasts longer and longer and that’s just what Research In Motion did yesterday with their latest acquisition. RIM acquired New Hampshire-based Paratek, a privately held maker of radio-frequency technology improves mobile-handset call quality and battery life. Financials details of the deal were not disclosed but Paratek is funded by a number of venture capital firms including Polaris Ventures and Europe’s biggest chip maker, STMicroelectronics.
