Toronto-based digital healthcare marketing agency, Klick Health, kicked off the holiday season with the release of its highly anticipated annual holiday video, which for the second year has replaced a traditional company holiday card. Created entirely in-house and led by Glenn Zujew, Vice President, Creative Services, the festive video includes every Klick employee in the largest assembled cast for an agency holiday video. In this fast-paced, three-and-a-half minute musical video, employees paid tribute to some old favourite holiday films and characters  in a humerous series of spoofs on classics like A Christmas Story, The Polar Express and Home Alone. In just two weeks, the video has close to 20,000 YouTube views and has been tweeted on influential sites like Entertainment Tonight Canada. Last year, Klick’s holiday video went viral, garnering well over 100,000 views in a matter of weeks. Described as “brilliant and overwhelming” by CNN, the 2010 video was featured by multiple media outlets across North America, including Comedy Central and CBC News.

Klick also offers a contest attached to the video that participants can enter after watching the video online. The contestant who is able to identify the most number of characters and movie references is eligible to win a MacBook Air; and the one to name the most number of movies and TV shows referenced has the chance to win both an iPad 2 and a Blackberry Playbook. The competition deadline is January 15, 2012.

Many people and companies produce viral videos with the naïve expectation that it will be viewed and shared by millions of people, but what makes a good viral video is one that is not too self-indulgent and is both engaging and relatable to the public. Upbeat, humerous, and including holiday favourites both old and new, Klick’s holiday video appeals to a widespread audience, not only those directly related to the company or even the digital services industry for that matter. It is a something one would share with friends upon viewing. In addition to a holiday greeting, the video serves as an effective recruiting tool and offers a public relations tactic to highlight the company to a mass audience. It demonstrates the power of viral video to reach a large audience in a cost effective manner and engage employees at the same time. Thanks for making our making our holiday season a little merrier, Klick Health!
