We first got wind of Vancouver-based Payfirma when they launched back in they mobile payment service back in June of this year, and since then they have continued to grow and add new employees.  Looking back over this last year where mobile payments have just started to scratch the surface as an alternative payment method for consumers the company is reporting that is it now processing more than $1 million per day across its thousands of merchants.

According to Founder and CEO Michael Gokturk, “There is a massive greenfield market to help businesses accept credit cards. Of the approximately 30 million businesses in North America, only 9 million currently accept credit cards. Although there is a small cost for businesses to accept credit cards, our merchants see 30%+ spikes in their sales because they now accept plastic.”
