Yellow Pages Group (YPG) is getting ready for the holiday season and recently launched a new iPhone app called ShopWise that taps into the phone’s GPS capabilities to serve up deals on products and services nearby a given location. The app’s search capabilities allow users to search by product category, by entering a specific product name or brand, and with the help of a Nearby section which lists all available deals around a given location. To ease the search process, the application offers the possibility of sorting deals by popularity, date of expiration or novelty. For a quick overview of deals and promotions, users can also get a snapshot of the most popular deals by consulting a Featured section, which highlights popular deals based on a variety of factors including the number of times they were shared and user views.

“With 49 per cent of Canadian shoppers who use their smart phones to access price information on the go1, ShopWise innovates and answers a definite need for Canadians to find nearby deals for the products and services they want while they are on-the-go, with real-time information,” said Nicolas Gaudreau, Vice President Digital Media Acquisition and Retention, of Yellow Pages Group. “The ease-of-use ShopWise and its unprecedented deals database is set to make it THE go-to shopping app Canadians will turn to as they shop for a gift, pick-up a meal for dinner or look for their favourite fashion store.”

ShopWise also leverages the iPhone’s push notification feature to send Radar Alerts that notify consumers if the products they flagged are on sale near them, even when the app isn’t in hand. In addition, this app enables users to easily share information with friends via social media channels.
