There has been a lot of noise in the daily deal space, just about ever major publisher has launched their own service or acquiring a provider in that space. You may recall last year Yellow Pages Group (YPG) acquired RedFlagDeals.com from Clear Sky Media, its parent company.   Today, RedFlagDeals announced a new limited time partnership with ING Direct. DealoftheDay.ca went live today, and between July 18 and July 25, Canadians are being offered $185 for opening new online, no-fee chequing accounts, once they “purchase” the free Deal of the Day offer and then set-up a payroll direct deposit before August 31, 2011.

“Social buying and direct banking share a lot of the same founding principles – innovation, giving the upper hand to consumers, and using social channels to give customers more information to make better decisions about their money,” said Peter Aceto, President & CEO of ING DIRECT. “These deals give broader access to products and services for consumers, and for businesses, they offer more opportunity to connect with new customers – one of ING DIRECT’s key focuses.”

Interesting little campaign on both parties part, unfortunately not that effective if someone does not want an ING Direct account, but also in a flooded market where consumers have so much choice it forces them to choose.
