Bell Prepares To Fight Back Against Competition Bureau Over Fees For Their Ads

Bell issued a press release this morning, looks they are rolling up their sleeves and fighting back:

Bell Canada today announced that it has entered into a consent agreement with the Competition Bureau to address the agency’s concerns regarding the use of disclaimers around certain fees in some past advertising by Bell.

Bell fundamentally disagrees with the Bureau’s position. Bell’s advertising has always complied with all applicable laws and been comparable with common advertising practice past and present in the communications marketplace and other industries in Canada. However, Bell has decided to immediately resolve the issue and move forward by paying an administrative amount of $10 million.

That’s a pretty hefty fine of $10 million to have to shell out though…
